Hamish Ogston CBE

Hamish is an active philanthropist, supporting a range of initiatives related to health, heritage and music in the United Kingdom and around the world.

Philanthropy has long been an important part of Hamish’s life. He has a desire to help disadvantaged young people in deprived communities by giving them opportunities for life-long employment.

Over the rest of his lifetime, he hopes to continue addressing the pressing challenges left unmet by governments, and help to bridge the gap between those in need and the resources required to support them.

Since 2008, Hamish has donated £70m (when adjusted for inflation) to numerous charitable causes. He is now actively looking to donate much more to causes in the health, heritage and music sectors which will help generations to come.

Hamish has had an extensive business career, spanning four decades and five start-ups, and was awarded his CBE in 2011 for services to business and the community in York.
